More than two dozen lifeguards in New Jersey test positive for COVID-19, health officials say

Health officials mentioned that close to a dozen lifeguards at Long Beach Island contracted coronavirus after having indulged in activities outside of work. The Health Director of the Beach, Daniel J.Krupinski noted that “The health department started receiving reports of COVID-19 activity among Surf City lifeguards on Saturday, July 18 and Harvey Cedars lifeguards on Sunday, July 19.”

He further mentioned that lifeguards with coronavirus are being isolated immediately. He emphasized that the lifeguards didn’t contract the virus while at work- they rather contracted it from contact outside. According to reports, the indoor parties still continuing at Long Beach island are one of the principal reasons behind the spread of the virus. Dr. Lifshitz declared that they had reason to believe that these indoor parties were to be blamed for this.

New Jersey, one of the hardest-hit states with the virus, has now recorded over 180,000 cases, and close to 15,000 deaths. California too have had 11 lifeguards contracting coronavirus at Newport beach. And officials believe that the virus was spread through community transfusion and not on the job.

Needless to say, the job has become really hard now.
