Anderson Cooper of CNN was blessed with a baby boy on Monday.
Wyatt Morgan Cooper took birth weighing 7 pounds and 2 ounces.
On Thursday, after the televised version of the weekly global town hall on the COVID-19 pandemic ended, Cooper, 52-years-old, shared pictures of Wyatt.
Cooper said that the world is going through a tough time and that bad days are coming. One should lean towards the happy moments during a hard time, he added.
“Even as we mourn the loss of loved ones, we are also blessed with new life and new love,” said Cooper.
Elated to become a parent, Cooper shared the news saying that he was a father now. He further said that when said out loud, it shocks him, but he is a father now and he would like the world to meet his son.
In an on-air discussion Cooper, who is gay, said that he never thought that if he would be able to have a child. He thanked the doctors, nurses, and everyone involved in helping in the process of becoming a father.
Cooper expressed his gratitude towards Wyatt’s surrogate who carried him, cared for him, and gave birth.
The announcement came as a shock for the viewers of CNN as they had never heard from Cooper about becoming a father.
Cooper’s father had died when he was aged 10. Cooper’s father was known as Wyatt, and Cooper wanted to pass on the name to the next generation.
During the announcement, he said that he hopes he will be good like his father.
The middle name of Wyatt, Morgan, is obtained from Cooper’s mother Gloria Vanderbilt’s family tree.
Wishing that his father, mother, and Carter; his brother would be alive to meet his son, Cooper said that he believed that his close ones are watching Wyatt and they are happy that the family is expanding.
