NBA Mailbag: Are The Utah Jazz A Contender For The PlayOffs For This Season

Utah Jazz
Utah Jazz

Are Uta Jazz the real deal? Well Utah Jazz has recently kicked their season off with continuous showing of great results. So are they going to the playoffs? Or just trying to ruin their odds of the lottery?

This season nobody expected a lot from Jazz after they traded their all-stars players like Mitchell Donovan and Gobert Rudt last summer. The fans were relying upon Henderson or Wembanyama to step up in those crucial moments. However, Utah is seemingly turning the table as they led to a victory at the Western Conference of NBA at ten to three in the game that took place last Friday.

With such an unexpected yet comfortable victory, calling the performance a fluke will be undermining their performance in the game. However, how great should we expect them to perform is still an important question. Also, is the potential that they are showing is enough to take them to the playoffs even after trading their veterans? Or is it just to achieve a better position in the lottery?

Utah Jazz Is In Miraculous Form This Season:

Here we will take SportsOddsHistory.com’s indispensible preseason lines into account. Here we see that in the 1999-2000 season a team never started better than seven to six through the first thirteen games with over or under twenty-five wins at least. Utah Jazz this season already has 23.5

Now, what about other possibilities? Well, even if we expand to teams with thirty-five or fewer wins there are just 2 teams that started nine to four or better. Here we get the name of Utah Jazz in the 2011-2012 season and Washington Wizards who did this just last season.

Let’s take a more upbeat approach and question if it’s appropriate to compare the Utah to groups of opponents with this low expectations. Utah Jazz’s preseason total was set under the assumption that the team will rest some players and trade some veterans before the halfway point. This Utah Jazz version has always appeared to be more competitive.
