Sergio Brown Arrested And Faces First-Degree Murder Charge

Former NFL player Sergio Brown faces murder charges even as he is arrested for murdering his mother. He was arrested as he returned from Mexico after a first-degree warrant was issued after his mother’s body was found.

Sergio Brown had been missing since his mother, 73, was found dead. This development was independently confirmed by both the police and his family. The former safety who played for the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots was taken into custody after the warrant was issued. He awaits extradition from California to Maywood in Illinois, law enforcement authorities revealed.

The body of Sergio Brown’s mother, Myrtle Jean Simmons-Brown, was found close to a creek behind her home in a suburb of Chicago on September 16. The office of the medical examiner in Cook County revealed that the body bore multiple injuries.

The 35-year-old Sergio Brown was arrested immediately as he reentered through the Mexican border, according to Maywood Police. His family expressed relief at the news of his safe return to the US  also the fact that he had been apprehended by law enforcement authorities.

Sergio Brown Fell Off The Radar After His Mother Went Missing Last Month

Attorney Christian Conway, representing the Sergio Brown family, said that the family had lost contact with Sergio Brown after the death of his mother. Videos are circulating in which a man resembling Sergio Brown is seen calling the news of the death as fake. The man is heard saying that his mother was vacationing in Mexico.

Videos have also surfaced of a man resembling Sergio Brown partying in Mexico. Brown represented the University of Notre Dame before representing various NFL teams over seven seasons. They include the Colts, the Patriots, the Buffalo Bills, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Atlanta Falcons.

The Simmons-Brown family released a statement last week in which they spoke in glowing terms about his mother Myrtle. They said that she was a loving, beautiful, and inspirational soul. They said that with her personality and her contagious smile, she always made people feel like they also mattered. They said that her loss had left a void in their lives and that of their community.
