Holiday Bowl Canceled Because Of COVID-19

ON Tuesday afternoon it was revealed that North Carolina State would not play against UCLA. UCLA does not have enough players on defense. The game was supposed to start at 8 pm ET.

UCLA will not participate in San Diego’s Holiday Bowl on December 29. The UCLA football team is not eligible to participate because of Bruins’ COVID-19 restrictions. 

Holiday Bowl Looking For Replacements

The Bowl was to be held at Petco Park. San Diego has no prominent football stadium. San Diego usually holds its games in the stadiums of Carson, CA. Petco Park had been examined and was all set to host the Bowl.

On Wednesday, San Diego’s Holiday Bowl committee has informed that they are looking for the UCLA football team’s replacement. They hope that the Holiday Bowl will not have to be canceled.

Four bowls have already been canceled because of the rising Covid cases. Officials hope that the Holiday Bowl is not canceled. 

the Holiday Bowl is canceled, it will become the 5th bowl to be shut down because of covid. The Military Bowl, Hawaii Bowl, Fenway Bowl, and Arizona Bowl have been canceled. The Sun Bowl and Gator Bowl were able to find replacement teams.

San Diego County Credit Holiday Bowl, in an announcement, said that the games will not be held on December 28. They assured fans that they will keep sending updates. Boo Corrigan, the director of North Carolina State’s Athletes, announced that the school has been in contact with several other schools. They hope that they can play a game before the 2021 season ends. 

The Arizona Bowl was called off on Monday. Boise State had to back out due to covid cases. The Sun Bowl welcomed Central Michigan as the Hurricanes’ replacement. The Hurricanes were forced to opt-out of the Sun Bowl because of Covid. The Washington State football team will play Central Michigan this coming Friday. 

The Gator Bowl replaced Texas A and M with Rutgers. They will play opposite Scarlet Knights.
