In a CIDRAP report to place the future of the coronavirus pandemic, a group of experts brought to light the possibility of it lasting for the next two years at least. Moreover to contain the pandemic, the world’s two-thirds population needs to be immune to the virus, as mentioned in the same report.

The report is co-authored by Michael Osterholm, CIDRAP director, Kristen Moore, medical director, John Barry, Health Historian, Tulane University, and Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist at Harvard School of Public Health.

Centre for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, University of Minnesota reports that the coronavirus pandemic will be more difficult to control than the Influenza that had hit the nation before because of its ability to spread from asymptomatic cases yet untraced in the population. Their report also suggests that there is a chance that people might be at their most infectious stage before getting checked positive with the virus.
