The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition designed to evaluate students’ analytical, valuation, reporting, writing, and presentation skills in business, finance, and economics. Teams are tasked with researching a publicly traded company and preparing a report that includes a buy, sell, or hold recommendation, followed by a presentation of their analysis to a panel of industry professionals serving as judges.

This year’s CFA Research Challenge centered on Allient Systems, a global firm that specializes in precision and customized products within the motion, controls, and power quality sectors. Headquartered in Buffalo, NY, the company caters to clients across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia.

The GGF teams have not only clinched victories in the Western New York competition but have also progressed to sub-regional and regional levels across the United States. In 2015, Canisius’ GGF team triumphed at the Global Finals of the CFA Institute Research Challenge, outperforming over 4,000 students from 865 universities worldwide.
