Donald Trump Refused To Act Even During The Capitol Riot

Even when the rioters were smashing up the Capitol on the 6th of January, 2021, Donald Trump had simply asked his aides to call upon a few senators.

He was rather interested in checking out paths that would help him overturn his defeat. Kayleigh McEnany, the former Press Secretary for the White House, said he wanted a list of senators. This was mentioned in a recorded testimony further aired by the select committee at a public hearing on Thursday night.

Although McEnany didn’t go about identifying every single senator Trump called upon, one of them was Senator Tommy Tuberville, who had previously spoken about receiving a call from the former President just as he and Mike Pence were being evacuated- with the mob reaching upon the Senate chamber. The select panel also went on to reveal in the eighth summertime hearing that Rudy Giuliani, the attorney for the former POTUS, had called upon a host of other GOP lawmakers on the evening of the attack.

Donald Trump Used The Jan 6 Mob For His Purposes

This evidence was simply one amongst the many that highlighted the fact that not only was Donald Trump keenly aware that the riot was taking place, but he also sought to use the chaos to further his goal of being the President of the United States of America. The select panel also went on to add a couple of details to this supposed timeline of the actions of Trump on the 6th of January- putting up a picture of the President who sat idly in the Oval Office and watched as the mob battered down the walls of the Capitol.

Although everyone has been well-documented with the fact that Donald Trump refused to say anything during the violence, the select committee sought to prove that he interfered only when it was inevitable that the mob wouldn’t stop Joe Biden’s election win.
