Don Lemon Stresses That His Move To Morning Show Is Not A Demotion: He Said It Is A Promotion

Don Lemon

Don Lemon Thursday’s Tonight episode opened with Lemon discussing his decision to join Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow as co-hosts of a new morning program at CNN. The group will take over for hosts of the New Day, John Berman and Brianna Keilar. Lemon claimed that Chris Licht, the new head of CNN and a former producer of CBS This Morning, asked him to do it and seized the chance.

On this network, Don Lemon said he was given a chance that he couldn’t refuse. He added that their new CEO is a morning show entrepreneur who wants a morning show that would launch the network’s editorial direction daily. So, Don Lemon said he felt honored that he would want him to do that.

Don Lemon Talking About His Morning Show Move: It Is A Promotion:

Lemon said that this was his choice despite the noise coming from some. Don Lemon addressed all of those out there, saying that now that Don Lemon has been moved, and without his say — they asked him, and he said yes. Lemon said that he could have said no. He said that it was his show. He has a contract for this show, and he decided that he would take him up on that and take this journey with him.

Of course, Twitter is mostly to blame for that noise. Right-wing extremists criticize the change as a demotion, while others think it is part of CNN’s alleged rightward shift since Licht became network president. Lemon argued that none is accurate.

Don Lemon acknowledged that one component of the change he’ll be making later this year would be challenging, even though he seemed pleased with it overall.
