Director of key federal vaccine agency says his departure was retaliation

The director of the office trying to develop a vaccine for the coronavirus in the US was dismissed and relegated from his post because, according to him, he was against Trump’s efforts to develop coronavirus treatment. Dr. Rick Bright had been leading the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority or BARDA since 2016 but was relegated from his position during this pandemic. 

According to Bright, he had pushed for funds to be invested in vetted solutions of the Coronavirus and not in developing a vaccine or treatment which still has no scientific merit. He mentions: “I am speaking out because to combat this deadly virus, science — not politics or cronyism — has to lead the way.”
