Chris Mack Could Have Handled It Better

In their official statement, Louisville said that Chris Mack’s suspension will start from 8th November and end on 27th November. During that period he will also not be paid. The coach would be missing 6 games outside the ACC. This includes 2 Bahamas games. Chris Mack will also not be allowed to have any contact with coaches and players during that time. He will be forfeiting approximately $221,000 to compensate for the mistake.

Vince Tyra, the athletic director of the Cardinals, said that the management has high expectations from every coach and staff member. They are also made to take accountability for whatever they do. Even though great strides have been made in the previous 4 years to change the Athletics Department’s culture, there is no place for any setbacks. He is confident that Chris Mack understood his actions’ consequences, and that he will be able to move forward from this incident without any hassle.

In May, Kentucky’s Western District’s acting United States attorney charged Dino Gaudio, an ex-basketball assistant, with extorting money. Other valuable things were also being extorted from Louisville.

The charge says that Gaudio had threatened to leak allegations that the college’s men basketball management were producing recruitment videos in violation of NCAA rules. He wanted an extra 17 months worth of salary to be paid to not do so. On 4th June, 64-year-old Gaudio pleaded guilty. He received probation for one year as well as a fine of $10,000 because of the plea deal.
