Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi were at home during burglary, have heavily updated security: report

A burglary took place in the presence of the power couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. It was reported that they both were present in their Montecito, California mansion when burglars broke into their home. Although they were not harmed, it was reported that expensive articles like jewelry were taken away by the burglars. It is not yet confirmed if the suspect or suspects were known to either of them.

Ever since that incident, the couple decided to enhance the security by hiring a new company that would look after their security. Laser sensors and cameras were also installed to maintain strict security norms and many other safety measures are being taken by them.

This report had no confirmation until Thursday when Santa Barbara County Sherriff’s Office confirmed it in a press release. It is being said that the sheriff is conducting a thorough investigation of this matter.

“The residence appears to have been targeted due to the victim’s celebrity status,” the release states. “The exact description of the items that were taken is not available for release, but they are described as high-value jewelry and watches.”
