Wisconsin extends stay-at-home order through May 26, closes schools for rest of academic year

On Thursday, Wisconsin extended its lockdown period till 26 May and also ordered the closing of schools for the remaining part of this academic year.

Governor Tony Evers had indicated towards the extension of the stay at home orders which was imposed on 24 April.

However, changes are being made in the original order. For instance, by the new order, golf courses will be reopened.

Meanwhile, Evers and other governors are being pressured by the conservatives to nullify the expansion of the stay-at-home order so that the economy can start functioning. In this regard, a protest has been scheduled at the state Capitol on the real end date of the order.

The health officials have issued warnings that lifting restrictions before the right time could lead to an increase in the number of Coronavirus cases.

Wisconsin recorded 3,721 cases, 182 deaths, and 1,091 hospitalized cases till Wednesday.
