To help combat the country’s persistently high inflation, stimulus checks will be sent to residents of four US states beginning in May.

Prepaid gas cards and transit cards will be distributed by the city of Chicago, while stimulus checks will be distributed by the states of California, Delaware, and Indiana this month.

Stimulus Checks In California

Both Golden State Stimulus I (GSS 1) and Golden State Stimulus II (GSS 2), stimulus check packages enacted in California last year, will provide financial aid to qualified residents (GSS II).

Under the first stimulus package, citizens of the state will get a check for $600 to $1,200, and under the second, they will receive a check for up to $1,100. Depending on whether or not they were eligible for GSS I and other criteria, some may get reduced payouts under GSS II.

Eligible applicants will be California residents who earned less than $75,000 in a year and who submitted their tax returns before October 15, 2021. Additional payments are anticipated to be distributed in June by the state’s Franchise Tax Board (FTB).

Residents should verify their eligibility on FTB’s website to see whether they are eligible for one of the two stimulus payments.

Delaware

By the end of May, residents of Delaware should have received a tax refund from the state. To be exact, the refund will be $300 for single taxpayers and $600 for married couples who file jointly.

Residents of Delaware who have already submitted their individual income tax return for 2020 will get the refunds. According to Delaware Online, the reimbursement is available to people even if they did not make enough money to need to pay taxes in 2020.

Indiana

Beginning in May of this year, citizens of Indiana who meet certain criteria will be able to receive tax refunds from the state.

There will be a $125 charge for single filers and a $250 payment for married couples. Any taxpayer who has submitted their state taxes prior to January 3, 2022 will qualify.
