NYC funeral home stored dozens of bodies in U-Haul trucks, producing “overwhelming” stench

Cops were called to a neighborhood in Brooklyn where a funeral home had been storing coronavirus casualties in rented trucks.

The New York funeral home stated that the morgue had been filled to the brim with corpses, which led to them using trucks in the first place.

Unfortunately, it gave off an extremely bad stench which made the neighbors call the cops.

Why Did The Funeral Home at New York Use Trucks?

People in the neighborhood complained that the stench had been there for the last couple of weeks.

Eric Adams, President of Brooklyn Borough, said, “It was people who walked by who saw some leakage and detected an odor coming from a truck.”

Investigating officers later revealed the reason for this seemingly unnatural case. They said that the funeral home was getting over-saturation with bodies due to the global pandemic and so the workers had to rent trucks with no refrigeration and place the bodies on ice. Soon the ice had melted, leading to the bodies rotting over time.

Although the state of New York didn’t charge The Andrew T. Cleckley Funeral Home, they were still chastised for not being able to control the stench and given a citation.

The Funeral Home was able to secure refrigerated trucks and the workers were seen shifting the dead bodies later on. The workers were seen wearing protective gear.

New York is one of the worst affected cities in the U.S with over 12,700 deaths and 165,000 confirmed coronavirus cases.

It has been the scene of a massive disaster as funeral homes, hospitals, and crematoriums have been overflowing with dead bodies. Most hospitals have started using tractor-trailers which would cart bodies out of the hospitals into crematoriums.

The Funeral Home was unavailable for any comment. No phone calls from any reporters were received.
