Tim Cook Will Testify That Apple Is In Fierce Competition With Google And Huawei

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple is set to tell the House Antitrust Subcommittee that Apple is in fierce competition with its rivals for its place in the smartphone market.

The antitrust hearing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday. The prepared remarks divulged by Cook reads, “The smartphone market is fiercely competitive, and companies like Samsung, LG, Huawei, and Google have built very successful smartphone businesses offering different approaches. Apple does not have a dominant market share in any market where we do business.”

Cook is one of the four CEOs of tech giants to be present in the hearing on Wednesday. Apart from him, the meeting will have Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook. The respective CEOs have already released their remarks on Tuesday.

Apple plans to employ defense leaning because it doesn’t have a majority share in the smartphone market, added Tim Cook. He also discussed the origins and control strategy of AppStore.

“Clearly, if Apple is a gatekeeper, what we have done is open the gate wider. We want to get every app we can on the store, not keep them off,” Cook further said in his remarks.
