Liz Cheney had said it all when she stressed that the nation can either be loyal to Donald Trump or the Constitution, but not to both. And it appears that gradually she is coming into her own, just weeks after the party’s National Committee vote to censure her.

Her participation in the investigation into the riots on January 6 was censured by the Committee, but two months later, people were lining up to meet Cheney and the special guest at the event, Senator Mitt Romney.

The intimate cocktail party organized by Bobbie and Bill Kilberg was a fundraiser for Republicans in support of Liz Cheney and demonstrated the support she has garnered among Republicans. Bobbie Kilberg summed it up when she said that there was a need for Republicans to move beyond Donald Trump.

Liz Cheney Appears As The Only Acceptable Face Against Trump

Liz Cheney’s supporters have seen her emerge as the face against Trumpism. And she has built a strong support base. Bobbie Kilberg said that it was time that the GOP moved beyond Trump and his policies.

Liz Cheney’s allies insist she is focused on the reelection this year, starting with a daunting challenge in the primaries from Harriet Hageman, her one-time adviser. Trump is behind Hageman, and the disgraced president would love to defeat Liz Cheney during the midterm elections. It remains a top priority for him.

And many Republicans are ready to see beyond that and believe that she should seek the Republican nomination for the top post if Trump again runs for the post.

Liz Cheney has been preparing the ground for something bigger. She has shown impressive fundraising power with a personal record of $2M in the first quarter of 2021.

Mitt Romney and George Bush have raised money for Cheney’s reelection efforts, connecting her directly to the donor network.

But Liz Cheney’s bid for the White House will depend heavily on how she performs against in the Wyoming primaries against Hageman.
