Washington Commanders has tapped the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys as their next coach. Dan Quinn has led the Falcons to the Super Bowl during his 5-year stint in Atlanta.

The 53-year-old Dan Quinn replaces Rivera, who exited last month after an overhaul at the Washington team. The move by Dan Quinn has been confirmed by insiders following the initial news. But officials only agreed to speak anonymously. The team is yet to make the announcement official.

Dan Quinn just ended his 3rd season with his previous team. He has been the head coach with the Falcons for over five years between 2015 and 2020. it includes a Super Bowl presence following the season in 2016. Atlanta lost to the Patriots after amassing a lead of 28-3 before going down in overtime. After a disastrous start in 2020 when he started with a 0-5 record, he exited the team.

Dan Quinn became the top choice at Washington after Ben Jonson, the offensive coordinator for the Lions, backed out of the race and said that he would continue for another season with Detroit. The Seahawks hired Mike Macdonald, the defensive coordinator at Baltimore.
