Mitchell Miller Signs With Bruins After Bullying Conviction

Mitchell Miller, the contender whose draft privileges were forfeited after it came to light that both he and his friend had been found guilty of abusing and harassing a student with developmental disabilities, accepted a deal with the Boston Bruins on Friday.

The Coyotes selected the defender, 20, inside the 4th stage of the 2020 NHL Draft. But soon shortly after being chosen, Arizona Republic published a story outlining how Mitchell Miller and a different middle school student had been found guilty in youth court back in twenty-sixteen of racist bullying and abuse of Black student Isaiah Meyer-Crothers.

Meyer-Crothers’ mother claimed in the report that Miller began assaulting her kid in 2nd grade and frequently using racist slurs.

Mitchell Miller in a statement revealed that when he was in school, he made a bad choice and acted immaturely to his fellow student. He admitted that he has bullied his classmate. He said that he regret taking that decision, and that he has grown since that experience.

In a statement Mitchell Miller revealed that he will keep participating in the community programs and it will help him to learn properly. He said that his mistakes with the others shows what negative impact the actions in question might have upon others.

The Coyotes’ owner, is the very 1st Latino inside the NHL, & Xavier Gutierrez, the team’s president and CEO, is the only one in the league.

Just under a couple of months later, Mitchell Miller’s selection rights were subsequently released by the Coyotes. In addition, Miller, a sophomore at the Univ of North Dakota, lost his scholarship there.

After sitting out the 2020–21 campaign, he made a comeback to play with Tri-City Storm of the USHL in 2021–22. Mitchell  Miller ended the season equal for the division lead by thirty-nine goals & eighty-three points—both major tournament records for a defensive lineman 60 games, earning him the titles of Defenseman of the Season and Player of the Season in the USHL.
