Novak Djokovic is getting closer to writing another page of tennis history. The No. 1 male tennis player won a record-tying Grand Slam Number 20 on Sunday. Matteo Berrettini, his opponent, lasted a total of 4 sets before Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic Seals His Name Among The Top 3

The men’s singles title in Wimbledon 2021 is Novak Djokovic’s twentieth Grand Slam. It also ties his record with his rivals in the “Big Three” – Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. All three of them now have 20 Grand slams to their names.

The Wimbledon 2021 title is Novak Djokovic’s third back-to-back title in the All England Club. It is his 6th overall. Presently, he is also on a winning streak of 21 matches at Wimbledon.

After the win, Novak Djokovic said that winning the Wimbledon had always been his biggest dream while he was growing up. In his speech to the crowd gathered in Centre Court, he remembered how he was seven and in Serbia. He constructed tennis trophies of Wimbledon using whatever he could find lying around in the room. So on the day, his 6th Wimbledon brought about an amazing, incredible feeling.

The final match was a contest between men’s tennis’ older and newer generations. Novak Djokovic, 34, was facing Berrettini, 25. But this was nothing new for Novak Djokovic for the present year. In Australia, he fended off Daniil Medvedev and in France, he won against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

But Berrettini was not a pushover by any means in the final of Wimbledon 2021. His momentum so far in the tournament coupled with his grass-court skills made him a serious opponent. The world number nine had won 11 matches back-to-back on grass surfaces till the final. However, this was his first final of a Grand Slam.
