Large-scale human trial of potential COVID-19 vaccine kicks off at Oxford

A University of Oxford team, headed by Sarah Gilbert seems most confident in creating a vaccine for the novel coronavirus. With a possible 80% chance of success, they are moving rapidly to develop this potential vaccine and making it available for the public as recently as September.

On Thursday itself, human testing of the potential vaccine began in Oxford. More than 500 volunteers are to be tested to check its efficiency.

Large-scale funding is also backing these efforts by the medical research team at Oxford. The UK Health Secretary mentions that the UK is leading at the frontlines to find this vaccine that can ease the world from a global crisis.
