Ryder Cup To Be Opened By Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas

Jordan Spieth

Early on Friday morning, the 2021 Ryder Cup will begin with Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, the duo from the US, at the Whistling Straits. Their opponents will be Spanish Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm, the team from Europe.

Ryder Cup 2021 Opening Session Expected To Be Tense

The Ryder Cup’s first session format is called foursomes, or alternate shot. At Ryder Cup 2018, Spieth and Thomas’s team had gone 3-1 in France. However, Garcia has the highest number of points ever in the Ryder Cup. Jon Rahm is currently the world’s top-ranked player. As such, the opening session starting from 8.05 E.T. should be a thriller.

Steve Stricker, the captain of the US team for the Ryder Cup, said that everyone is fired up to finally get started. It has been 3 years since the last one. Although the golfers come around to do practice rounds from Sunday, they are always thinking about Friday. They are raring to get out onto the lawn and start the competition.

Stricker also said that they have high expectations from this year’s Cup US pairings. They already have experience playing together in other President Cups and Ryder Cups. So he looks forward to how they perform and in the order of their games.

The next Cup match will be between English Paul Casey and Norwegian Viktor Hovland against Americans Collin Morikawa and Dustin Johnson. This will begin from 8.21 E.T. This is the 5th Ryders Cup for Johnson. He is the only American to have played so many. Overall, his score stands at 7-9. On the other hand, this will be a rookie year at the tournament for Morikawa. Similarly, this will be Casey’s 5th appearance while it will be Hovland’s first.
