2021 ended on a good note for Barcelona. They tied with Sevilla 1-1 in their last La Liga match this year. They put up a wonderful performance and almost won against second-place team. Barca’s opponents lost one player early in the second game.

Last week’s game against Madrid left Sevilla shaken. Their first-half performance against Barca was disappointing, to say the least. They were wasteful and slow. Barca dominated the first 25 minutes of the game. Though they did prove why they have the finest defense.

Barca’s performance was better but they were unable to create openings. A shot by Ousmane Dembélé was the lone attempt in the first half of the game. In the final 900 seconds of the first half, Sevilla gained their composure and started fighting back. They scored with a corner kick which was finished by Papu Gomez.

By halftime Barca’s Ronald Araujo scored a goal thus equalizing them with their opponent.

Sevilla player Koundé’s Outburst

The other half saw players getting aggressive. Sevilla was on the attack and Barcelona was more on the defense.

Odds tilted in Barca’s favor when their opponent lost a player. A very angry Jules Koundé threw the football at Alba’s face. The referee standing right there gave him a red card.

Barca started their offense 15 minutes after Sevilla lost Koundé. Barca’s opponent brilliantly defended against their unrelenting attacks.

With the final whistle, the explosive game ended. Barcelona tied against the league’s second-best team and earned a precious point.

Barca’s win finally gave their fans a reason to be proud in quite a while.
