Inter Milan Gets The Better Of City Rivals

Inter Milan, led by Simone Inzaghi, can now win the club’s 4th UCL trophy – the most elite competition in European soccer. The history books of the Nerazzuri will be eagerly awaiting the addition of another page.

Helenio Herrera, one of the most famous Inter Milan coaches, had led the club to consecutive European Cup titles in 1964 as well as 1965. The next Inter Milan triumph came after 45 years in 2010 when the side led by Jose Mourinho lifted the trophy, shocking the entire continent.

The first leg of the semi-final did not feature too tight of a match as AC Milan had been more or less dominated by Inter Milan, with the match ending in a score line of 2 goals to nil in the favor of the blue side. The second tie, however, was a much tighter affair as AC Milan threw everything from the start as they desperately searched for goals.

Lautaro Martinez, the present captain of Inter Milan, ended those ambitions when he struck the ball into the back of the net in the 74th minute. Romelu Lukaku, who featured as a substitute, slipped the past into the path of Martinez. The Argentine then dispatched it with a powerful effort to find the goal past AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
