Miami LB Jaelan Phillips picked up a serious injury in their 34-13 win over NY Jets. Mike McDanielm the Dolphins’ coach, confirmed the news that Jaelan Phillips had busted his Achilles tendon.

Jaelan Phillips picked up a non-contact injury in the early stages of the last quarter. He crashed to the ground and was carted off the field. McDaniel said that the Achilles was confirmed torn. He said that it would be a long recovery for Jaelan Phillips. Jaelan Phillips has been a key consistent component of the Miami defense. He came in with the 2021 draft 18th pick. This season he had 3 tackles, 7 tackles, 11 QB hits, and also an interception.

McDaniel admitted that it would not be easy replacing Jaelan Phillips. But he said that he had the required depth in resources, guys who were capable of stepping up and matching his contribution in different ways. He said the Dolphins were fortunate to have a measure of depth in their team.

Jaelan Phillips First Miami Player Injured This Season

Jevon Holland, the Dolphins safety, who returned a 99-yard interception to win a touchdown in the Friday game said that the surface was trash. Raheem Mostert, the Miami running back bagged 2 touchdowns in the game. He admitted that changes were needed on the ground. He is a former New York Jets player.

Jaelan Phillips is among the latest players to injure his Achilles at the MetLife Stadium. NY Jets QB Aaron Rodgers was playing his fourth day in his first season when he also picked up a serious tendon tear. He has indicated that if the NY Jets advance to the competitive round of this season and enter the playoff chase he could be back.

McDaniel admitted that Phillips’ injury had significant consequences. But given the encouraging history of the Miami Dolphins, he should be back. He is the first major Miami player who was lost for an injury picked up during this season.
