Michael Jordan and his business have actually promised to donate $100 m (₤79 m) over the next 10 years to organisations engaged in the fight for racial equality and social justice.

The statement follows a number of days of demonstrations in the United States and additional afield following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota recently.

In a declaration, the Jordan Brand stated: “Black lives matter. This isn’t a questionable declaration. Until the deep-rooted bigotry that permits our nation’s organizations to stop working is totally eliminated, we will stay dedicated to securing and enhancing the lives of Black individuals.

“Today, we are revealing that Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand will be contributing $100 m over the next 10 years to organisations devoted to making sure racial equality, social justice and higher gain access to to education.”

Earlier today, Jordan voiced outrage over the Floyd occurrence, stating he was “truly pained and plain angry” which he stood with those “calling out the ingrained racism and violence toward people of colour in our country”.
