21-Year-Old Air National Guardsman Was Arrested In Pentagon Leak Case

A 21-year-old member of the Air National Guardsman in Massachusetts was recently arrested by the FBI on Thursday. The arrest was made in connection with the leak of classified documents that went online- according to the announcement made by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The 21-year-old guardsman, Jack Texeira, came after a rapid search by the US government to identify the leaker who had posted classified documents on a social media platform that was quite popular with video gamers. The accused was arrested in Massachusetts without any event, and according to the AG, he would be arraigned in a Massachusetts federal court. Nevertheless, the investigation was still on the way- and there was other information to protect.

Air National Guardsman Arrested on Charges of Treason

According to the Office of the US Attorney in Massachusetts, the Air National Guardsman would be before the Boston court on Friday. In a statement, the FBI also stated that they had taken Texeira into custody at a residence located near North Dighton, for his alleged participation in the leak of classified military and government documents of the country.

The agency mentioned that the FBI was still conducting authorized policing at the residence. Ever since the previous week, the agency had been pursuing investigative leads quite vociferously, and the arrest made today exemplifies their continued work towards identifying, pursuing, and holding accountable those accused of betraying their own nation.

The documents allegedly leaked by the Air National Guardsman were posted to social media- some of which CNN could obtain. The documents included a detailed assessment of intelligence for their allies and adversaries. It also had details about the Ukraine and Russia wars.
