There aren’t many bigger clubs in London than Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, and the two clubs have shared a lot more than success down the years. Some of the most memorable players in the history of top-flight football have played for both clubs throughout their careers. Some have been adored by both, but the vast majority has seen a disdain grown from one side. But, which players have donned the shirts of both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur?

William Gallas

William Gallas is part of a very illustrious group of players that have played for three of the biggest teams in England. He made his name at Chelsea when he was brought to the club in 2006 by Claudio Ranieri. The Frenchman played an important role in the club consolidating their place in the Champions League places, before going on to win two Premier League titles with the club. However, he was included as part of the contentious Ashley Cole deal in the summer of 2006 and swapped Stamford Bridge for the Emirates.

Cole went on to become a huge part of the Champions League winning Chelsea side in 2012, while Gallas went on to play 142 times for the Gunners but was unable to help the club win a single honour. The Frenchman then became the first player to ever play for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham after agreeing to move to White Hart Lane. He enjoyed three excellent seasons for Spurs as he played 78 times.

Jimmy Greaves

There are very few players that are adored by fans of both clubs, but Jimmy Greaves is one of them. He was undoubtedly one of the finest strikers that have ever played the game in England. His career started with Chelsea in 1957, and he went on to enjoy four excellent seasons with the Blues. He scored a remarkable 124 goals in 154 league games during these four seasons, and that led Italian giants AC Milan to make a move for him.

However, after just one season in Serie A, he returned back to England to play for Tottenham Hotspur. Greaves played at Tottenham for nine seasons and scored 266 goals in 381 appearances. During his time with Spurs, he won two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners Cup. He is still renowned as a hero at the club, and you can learn more about Jimmy Greaves at SpursForLife.

Glenn Hoddle

Glenn Hoddle is regarded as one of the most talented players that have ever emerged from England. Technically there was no one better than the midfielder. The best years of Hoddle’s career came with Tottenham, as he played for the club for 12-years. During his time with the club, he won two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup. He also won individual accolades during this time as he won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 1980.

After spells at Monaco and Swindon Town, Hoddle signed for Chelsea. He enjoyed two seasons at the club. During this time he was also the manager of the club, but he eventually stepped down from the role after being offered the England position. In 2001, he would become the first player to play for and then manage Chelsea and Tottenham. He enjoyed just over two years in charge at Spurs.
