Social Security 2023: Here Are The New Dates

Social Security

According to Social Security Scotland, all planned benefits—including the Child and Adult Disability Payment—that are due on the Monday after the May Day bank holiday will actually be deposited into bank accounts on Friday, April 28. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) previously released comparable updates for payments including the State Pension, Child Benefit, and Universal Credit. The notification was also shared on social media.

“If your payment date falls on a bank holiday, you’ll typically be paid the working day before,” said the tweet. You will get your payment by the end of Friday, April 28, if it is due on Monday, May 1.

Social Security Dates Have Changed

There has been no word about if Social Security Scotland’s webchat facilities and telephone lines will be functioning on the bank holiday, but we will update this post whenever this information is available. The DWP just informed that Jobcentre Plus operating hours would alter for the May 1 bank holiday and the King’s Coronation on May 8. Because DWP offices and phone lines will be closed on both Mondays, payments due on May 8 will be made early, on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Social Security Scotland has not yet published information on office hours or adjustments to planned payments for the Coronation bank holiday, although this is expected.

State Pension and benefits will be paid on Friday, April 28 if the payment date is Monday, May 1.

Affected payments:

Scotch Child Benefit

Payment for Child Disability

Payment for Adult Disability

Some payments will be made ahead of time in order to ensure that recipients receive them on a day when Jobcentre Plus offices are open:

State pension and benefits will be paid on Friday, April 28 if the anticipated payment date is Monday, May 1.

State pensions and other benefits are scheduled to be given on Friday, May 5 if the anticipated payment date is Monday, May 8.
