European Super League Timeline: Premier League Clubs Withdraw

Chelsea had shown intention of documenting their withdrawal from the European Super League soon after the news broke. Meanwhile, Manchester United has also emerged to officially pull out of this controversial tournament.

Similarly, the other 4 teams including Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, and Liverpool have also withdrawn themselves. Inter Milan is also geared up to pull themselves out from this project. In addition, reports have informed that Serie A teams are ready to exit soon.

European Super League In Ruins

The formation of the European Super League was announced on 19th April, Sunday. Soon it faced massive backlash and more serious condemnation. Despite worldwide criticism from fans and organizing bodies, the officials of the European Super League informed that their tournament was completely aligned with the laws and rules.

They also mentioned that the traditional status quo in European soccer needs a transformation. Furthermore, Andrea Agnelli, Juventus chairman, has stated that the project would have been a huge success if it went through.

Guillem Balague, the Spanish soccer expert, has expressed his agreement with Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid. They believe that the 12 leading clubs must be kept intact to bring about a positive change in the football scenario.

Manchester City has formally withdrawn from the ESL and Liverpool has discontinued its involvement. Manchester United informed that they paid heed to the fans’ reactions, important stakeholders, and UK government and decided to withdraw.

Arsenal has already apologized to their fans through an open letter and admitted committing a mistake while Chelsea is in process of withdrawal after their late-joining last week.

Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, has admired their admittance of making mistakes and withdrawing from ESL. They are hoping for unity from now onwards.
