Williams’ ‘Spirit Was Infectious,’ Melissa Gilbert, Gregory Smith, and Kim Cattrall Said In Response To His Passing

Following his death on Monday from injuries sustained in a motorbike accident, celebrities from all across the movie industry are paying tribute to Treat Williams. Following the devastating news, tributes from friends and co-stars of Williams, including Sarah Drew, Gregory Smith,  Melissa Gilbert, Kim Cattrall, and Wendell Pierce, flooded social media with messages of grief. 

The news has been devastating, says Smith who played the son of Williams’ on the four seasons of Everwood which began in 2002 and went on till 2006. Treat, says Smith, was an excellent individual and a brilliant artist. He cherished his family beyond all else. Concluding with how appreciative he is of the time he got to be with his larger television family. He had a profound effect on him during his early years for which he would forever be grateful. He also added that he sends love and courage to his family and his absence would be felt keenly.

In a discloser to the media, Drew, an Everwood costar, stated, “I’m grieved by the awful and abrupt loss of Williams.” Further adding that working with Williams on the show had a significant impact on not only his career but also his life. During their years in Salt Lake City, they had a lovely and close family. He gained a lot of knowledge from Treat’s leadership and ability and his thoughts are with his family, concluded Drew. Among all the people expressing their grief, was Melissa Gilbert, one of Williams closest friends who recalled him for his kind gestures and brilliant skills. Melissa Gilbert also expressed that she had a huge crush on him since childhood! 

Williams has a career spanning four decades and more than 120 credits. In the suspense movie Deadly Hero, he made his screen debut in 1975. From then, he started to take on more acting roles in movies, such as Hair in 1979, which led to his first Golden Globe nomination for actor in a new star of the year. Later, he received a second Golden Globe nomination for his performance in 1981’s Prince of the City for best actor in a drama film.
