The Chainsmokers: Governor Cuomo launches investigation into ‘illegal and reckless’ Hamptons concert

On Monday, Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, tweeted about a drive-in concert and criticized the event for being reckless. He also added that the New York Health Department will investigate the event.

Several video clips surfaced online of the Chainsmokers’ Hamptons drive-in concert. It is very clear from the video footage that none of the fans maintained social distancing. They, including the singers, can be seen in close proximity with each other.

Several netizens criticized the concert, given that the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging in New York.

Governor Cuomo said, “The Department of Health will conduct an investigation. We have no tolerance for the illegal & reckless endangerment of public health.”

Several media sources sought out the Chainsmokers for comments, but they are yet to respond.

The drive-in concert was hosted by people from Hamptons and it was supposed to raise funds for various charities. The tickets for the show ranged from $1,250 to $19,400.

All the people who were attending were asked to wear masks. All their temperatures were also checked after arrival. Before the show, the guests were made to fill an online questionnaire on COVID-19.

However, videos from the concert showed violations of all the COVID-19 guidelines.
