Taylor Swift responds to the accusation she copied ‘Folklore’ logo from the Black designer

Taylor Swift was recently accused by Amei Rasool, founder of the online retailer The Folklore, of copying her company’s logo.

In an Instagram post on July 24, she said that the musician was “currently selling merchandise with the words “The Folklore” printed on them.” She was sharing her story in order to shine a light on the shameful trend of large companies/celebrities copying the work of small minority-owned business owners.

Taylor swiftly responded to Rasool on Twitter and apologized to her. She added that she is “happy to make a contribution to Rasool’s  company and to support the Black in Fashion Council (launching on 8/3) with a donation.”

In a statement made by Swift’s representative, Tree Paine he notified that they have honored Rasool’s request and that anyone who had ordered merchandise with the word ‘the’ before ‘Folkore’ will undergo a design change.

Rasool confirmed the change in an Instagram post and applauded Taylor for her immediate actions to replace the damage that had been done and for being a strong advocate for women protecting their creative rights.
