Harry Kane kept his cool to fire in the rebound after his initial penalty was saved taking England to the Euro 2020 final. The 2-1 win against the Danes at the Wembley Stadium took England to its first-ever European Championship final.

It took over half a century for England to finally break through the semifinal stage at major international tournaments. The Englishmen came from behind to win over Denmark in extra time at Euro 2020.

The final will be staged at the same venue where it won its last major tournament, the World Cup in 1966 defeating Germany. In between the English team has lost four times at the semifinal stage either at the World Cup or the European Championship.

Foul On Raheem Sterling Sets Up Euro 2020 Semi-Final Win For England

It was a foul on Raheem Sterling that set England up for the penalty in extra time. He was brought down by Joakim Maehle in the box as he tried to cut in towards the goalmouth. The penalty was confirmed after video replays though Denmark was unhappy with the decision.

Three of England’s previous losses before the Euro 2020 semi-final win were in 1990, 1996, and 2018 had been decided on penalties. The second Euro 2020 semi-final also seemed headed that way till Rahim Sterling was brought down as he wiggled into the area.

Kasper Schmeichel dove the right way and blocked Kane’s penalty but the England captain recovered quickly to push in the rebound from 6 yards out.

Gareth Southgate has taken his side one step closer to their mission to take the English side to their first final at the Euro 2020. They fought back bravely after conceding their first goal of the tournament from a stunning Mikkel Damsgaard’s 30th-minute free-kick. An own goal gave England the equalizer before halftime.

Kane has equaled Gary Linekar’s long-standing record of 10 goals in a major tournament for the English. The crowd at Wembley went wild and the English had a golden opportunity to make amends at the Euro 2020 finals against the Azzurri after a long and frustrating wait for their fans.
