Lawmakers And The Public To Honor John Lewis As His Body Lies In State At Us Capitol

A rare ceremony has been arranged for late Civil Rights icon and Congressman, Rep. John Lewis. Congressional lawmakers and the American public will get a chance to pay their final tributes to this iconic figure as he lies in Capitol Hill, Washington, DC.

An invitation-only arrival ceremony has been arranged, which is set to take place at 1:30 p.m. ET on Monday, announced House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell last week.

This form of ceremonial tribute is generally arranged to honor the lives of the most distinguished statesmen and military personnel.

The respected guests expected to pay their tributes to the late Rep. John Lewis are Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Mike Pence, and Karen Pence.

After the ceremony in the Capitol, a public viewing will occur outdoors, adhering to safety precautions during this pandemic era which haunts the world still.

Lewis, who served as a Congressman for more than 30 years, was widely seen as a moral conscience of Congress because of his decades-long nonviolent fight for civil rights.
