The newly appointed Surgeon General made it through the different committees of the US Senate through unanimous votes last week. The total number of votes involved was 16-6. The committees included that of labor, education, and health.
Vivek Murthy, being a surgeon general, will be carrying out a bunch of critical roles including having a major influence on the message that will be stated to the public with regard to the virus. Murthy is not new to the post. He served under the same post during the administration of the then president, Barack Obama.
