The shutting down of the world might lead to creating new businesses or, in the case of wineries, running age-old businesses creatively. Wineries have taken to social media to connect with their customers during the quarantine and offer them the “virtual wine experience”.

California’s land of elixir, Buena Vista- the oldest winery, should ideally be crowded with tourists. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the winery is deserted.

So, because people could not come to visit the winery, the winery decided to visit the people. Through Facebook Live, Actor George Webber, as the Count Agoston Haraszthy, founder of Buena Vista took the views on a virtual tour of the wine cave.

He expressed his pleasure at being able to connect to people like that. He was happy to be able to reach such an extended community and loved responding to their comments live. But most importantly, he uses the time on screen to share his knowledge and perception of the fine elixirs.

Buena Vista is not the only winery to take up this step to stay connected with their customers and keep up the commerce. Clos du Val, Groth, St. Supery, Far Niente, Kendall-Jackson, Wente, Quintessa, Plumpjack, and Bouchaine Vineyards have also taken up this idea.
