Nevin Harrison marveled at the greatest of stages. She has won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She made history winning the 200m canoe sprint for women. Harrison was added to the history books for her achievement. The teenager became the only US athlete to win the event after 29 years. The last time America registered a win was way back in 1992.

The nineteen-year-old athlete was a treat to watch at the finals of the Olympics. She looked very much confident and in command right from the start. A dominant approach could be sensed throughout the event. Harrison paddled to her victory in less than 46seconds. She was in the lead for most of the event. 

It was an emotional affair for the youngster. She was overwhelmed with joy. Harrison shed tears of joy as she posed for the medal. Nevin Harrison is a gifted athlete. She won the World Championship at the age of Seventeen. 

While being interviewed, Harrison stated that she was speechless. It was her dream to win the ultimate prize at the Olympics. Now that she had achieved it, she did not know how to express herself. Harrison said she felt a crazy sense of joy within her. She thanked all those who had supported her all through her journey. Harrison acknowledged her family, friends, coaches for their hard work. She also extended her gratitude towards her fans. 

Nevin Harrison was the youngest athlete competing in the event. She was also the solitary US representative winning the medal in canoeing. Rebecca Giddens was the only other female athlete to have won a prize. She won the silver medal at Slalom K1 in 2004. This event will not be a part of the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
