The American tennis sensation, Serena Williams, got pulled out from a tournament. This incident took place this Friday. It was her first tournament of the new year 2021. The last game the player played was in the month of October last year.

Serena Williams had to be pulled out due to her shoulder injury. The announcement with regard to the player was made after the player made through the qualification for the semi-finals. It is the tune-up for the Australian Open.

Can Serena Williams Play?

The last tournament the player participated in was the French Open. It took place in the month of October. The veteran player could not participate in the game fully. Owing to her injury in the Achilles heel, she could not go further from round two of the game.

The Grand Slam champion for the 23rd time won over Danielle Collins. The match took place this Friday. the score was 6-2, 4-6, and 10-6. According to reports, she was set to play the next tune-up match with Ash Barty. Barty is currently the top player globally.

Serena Williams gave a statement at a press conference following her win over Collins. She mentioned that playing against the No.1 player was a very good opportunity for her. She further added that tennis had not been played like it should have, for the past 12 months. So, this year may be different.

If in case her injury does not hinder her game, she might be receiving her first winning title of the Grand Slam in the city of Melbourne. The last time she did so was in the year 2017. In that game, Serena Williams had won over Venus, her sister.
