PSG has suffered a major setback as they lost out to English side Manchester City 1-2 in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg. Matters are worse as the defeat came at PSG’s home.

Proceedings Of The Night For PSG

The two goals for Manchester City came from Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne. The opener came from PSG’s Marquinhos in the first half. As such, Mauricio Pochettino and his men are left with a mountainous task.

PSG’s misfortune did not end there as Idrissa Gueye saw red with more than ten minutes left on the clock. The Parisians had a disastrous second half where they were utterly dominated, a complete reversal of their dominance in the starting 45 minutes.

PSG had an excellent start to the night as Di Maria, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe looked motivated and purposeful in their first-half show. The international for Argentina delivered an outstanding delivery which Marquinhos met to get PSG into the front after just a quarter of an hour of play.

The first half saw most action from the French side as another header from Leandro Paredes flashed wide. Both Neymar and Di Maria also alternately terrorized the defense when the ball was in their possession.

However, it all came to an end as the second half began. City took hold of the match after that. De Bruyne made an effort that was nothing short of acrobatic. Although it missed it was a sign of upcoming events. The midfielder then went on to equalize in the 64th minute from a looping cross that deceived everyone.

Then seven minutes later, Mahrez sent the visitors into the lead. Ironically, Mahrez has his roots in the suburbs of Paris. However, he scored a sublime free-kick to complete the rout of the Parisian side.
