Manchester City only needs 3 more points to secure this year’s Premier League after a smooth victory over relegation-facing Everton. Iklay Gundogan found the back of the net twice in a game whose final scoreline stood at 3 goals to nil in the favor of the visitors.

Manchester City Has All But Won The Title

Erling Haaland was the man to score Manchester City’s third goal in this match. It was a header that was also the player’s goal number 36 in the league for this season. It came in between the two goals by Gundogan. After Arsenal slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the Emirates against Brighton, Manchester City will only need to defeat their next opponent Chelsea to secure the trophy.

However, this defeat meant Everton is closer than ever to getting relegated from the league. The worries eased for a bit following Leicester’s defeat to Liverpool on May 15th. However, that does not mean the team led by Sean Dyche is by any means safe.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, was frustrated with having to play against Everton on May 14th. This is because their upcoming opponents in the Champions League – Real Madrid, had one more day of rest as their game ended against Getafe took place on May 13th. However, if the Everton match is anything to go by, it seemed to be an appropriate training session for UCL semi-final 2nd leg that will take place on May 17th.

Manchester City remains on route to complete a historic treble after this result. Furthermore, there are no injury concerns facing them either. This will be the third time City wins the Premier League title consecutively. They still have 3 games to play and require no more than 3 points to win the title as their goal difference is also significantly higher than 2nd-placed Arsenal.
