Manchester United players wore black armbands and laid a wreath in the center of the field as they took part in a period of respect in memory of Sir Bobby Charlton ahead of their Premier League game. Charlton led the Red Devils to become the first English club to win the European Cup, now known as the Champions League, in 1968. He was also part of the English national team that won the 1966 World Cup.

In a game overshadowed by the gloom surrounding the death of one of the most respected and recognizable soccer players, Manchester United won 2-1, thanks to a stunner from Diogo Dalot. It was the kind of goal that was the trademark of Sir Charlton in his heydays.

Maguire Hits Form For Manchester United To Win The POTM Award

Harry Maguire appears to be hitting some much-needed form after a difficult period under Eric ten Hag. He has rarely made the starting XI but was there on Saturday night in their clash with Sheffield United. He recorded 3 clearances and 3 blocks even as he recorded an 82% pass accuracy. Manchester United went a goal up in the first half only to concede a goal soon. They controlled the game in the second half and came up with a great winner.

Bruno Fernandes set up Scott McTominay’s opening goal for Manchester United in the 28th minute. Sheffield United sought to again establish their hold following the equalizer by Oli McBurnie from a penalty following a handball by McTominay. Finally, it was up to Dalot as he fired a scorcher from 20 yards that finally brought Manchester United full points.

The goal came off a Victor Lindelof square pass. It was a pass Sir Charlton would have been proud of. Ten Hag said that the second half was way better for United. Dalot concluded that the win has brought a bit of joy for Manchester United fans on a sad day for the team. Manchester United is in the 9th position after the win with 15 points, way behind joint leader City and Arsenal with 21 each.
