Leandro Trossard scored a valuable winner for Arsenal against Everton as they extended their brilliant opening run to the season. The Gunners had to fight hard to gain full points at Everton’s Goodison Park. The win extended Arsenal’s brilliant start to the league season. It also ended their long pause for a victory against Everton on Merseyside. The newly recruited Belgian winger scored through an outstanding effort midway into the 2nd half. It was the first victory for Arsenal in Merseyside for 6 years.

Martinelli appears to have scored the opening goal for Arsenal in the opening half. But a review over VAR nixed his effort. The Gunners eventually took the lead in the 2nd half thanks to the effort of Trossard. His goal finally proved enough to help the Gunners to their 4th win in the first 5 games. There were murmurs of discontent and looks of disbelief when Martinelli had his header disallowed. Gary Neville in the commentary box was among those left confused by the VAR decision.

The disallowed goal came through as Gabriel Magalhaes’ pass was partially parried by Beto. The ball reached Eddie Nketiah, who passed to Vieira. The Portuguese midfield player found Martinelli with a deft touch. The Brazilian slotted home perfectly. However, Nketiah was declared offside by a VAR decision.

Trossard The Ultimate Impact Substitute For Arsenal

The winner finally came about as Martinelli walked off injured immediately after. There were some major changes with number one goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale replaced by David Raya, who came in only this summer. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said that it was part of a regular rotation policy with the full season ahead. The Spaniard had little to do at Goodison Park for most part of the game.

It was Trossard’s third goal for the North England side since he moved from Brighton to the Emirates Stadium. And all three goals have come in as a substitute. This depth in the team bodes well for Arsenal.
