USMNT finally seemed to get back to their stride on Thursday in the Gold Cup. The team suffered from heavy criticisms following their lackluster performances earlier. They won against Haiti but failed to leave an impression. However, Thursday night was different. The team cruised past Martinique to cement their position in the quarters.

USMNT Back To Normal Business As They Thump Martinique 6-0 On Their Way To The Last Eight

After some below-average performances, the US side finally seemed to find their groove. The match against Martinique was almost a stroll in the park for USMNT. The first 11 was changed following an unsatisfactory 1-0 win over Haiti. The changes seemed to reap rich returns. The win may come as a welcome relief but one should not forget that Martinique is not a team that is highly accomplished.

The star of the night for the US was undoubtedly Daryl Dyke. His double strike paved the way for the goal-fest. Dyke, who plays for Orlando, can already be termed as US’ No.1. He is making a strong case for his inclusion in the world cup squad.

Christian Roldan was another secret performer of the night. His moves might not have attracted a lot of fans’ eyes. But his skills and precision with the ball enabled the USMNT to dominate.

Expectations were high from Gianluca Busio. He did perform according to his expectations. He was greeted by a loud cheer as he was the crowd’s favorite. The teenager was electric in the midfield and assisted Nicholas Gioacchini at the fag end of the match.

Going forward, the USMNT will be facing the Canadian challenge in the last group game. They will then play the knockout and are expected to lift the coveted trophy.
