CBS has searched inside its own network to find the host for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards: Cedric the Entertainer. The award show’s 73rd edition will be aired on 19th September. Cedric the Entertainer features in “The Neighborhood”, a comedy on the CBS network.

Emmy Awards Nomination And Production Details

The Emmy Awards 2021 will be helmed by Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment for the second year consecutively. Ian Stewart and Reginal Hudlin are the executive producers. The telecast’s director will be Hamish Hamilton. In the previous year, Hudlin became the first producer of color for the Emmy Awards.

The details were announced on Monday by CBS and the Academy for Television. On Tuesday, the nominations are going to be revealed. The Awards will be returning to downtown L.A.’s Microsoft Theatre. However, only the nominees and a few select guests will be allowed to attend.

Cedric has also hosted recently “The Greatest #AtHome Videos” recently. The series has become regular since starting as a special during the pandemic’s early days. He has also previously hosted the Soul Train Awards.

Cedric stated that television has been his constant companion since he was a kid cuddling next to his grandmother. So he considers it a huge honor to have the opportunity to host the Primetime Emmy Awards for the year. He said that television helped everyone stay connected on an unprecedented scale. It has been a source of entertainment, as well as education and understanding. So he can hardly wait till going on stage and celebrate all the great shows in the previous year.

Last year, Jimmy Kimmel was the host of the Primetime Emmy Awards. The event did not have an audience and the majority of winners and presenters joined in remotely. The 73rd edition of the awards will air on 19th September, Sunday.
