Tony Finau Definitely Brought Order To A Chaotic Finish At The 3M Open

Tony Finau

Tony Finau maintained quite a strong finish on Sunday to win the 3M Open and was also responsible for injecting a little order in a game that was awash with uncertainty.

Finau was the highest-ranked player in the tournament to reach the weekend in Blaine, and he reportedly overcame a deficit of five strokes to veteran Scott Piercy. Piercy looked quite poised to turn the entire avenue of professional gold on its head for around 61 holes- but not as seismically as Greg Normal, but somewhat down that line. Ranked 297th in the world, Piercy was simply trying to clinch his first individual stroke-play title since 205 after he came up with a whole new swing. And this involved a brand new putter, a new driver, and a new caddie. He also bought a pair of shoes which resulted in him having blisters on his foot near Round 3.

Tony Finau Stages Impressive Comeback

Tony Finau definitely brought a little tradition to the game. For Piercy had walked in with a completely new host of things, which could have motivated others to do the same. Unfortunately for the native of Las Vegas, his final round of the TPC was both the best of times and the worst of times. After he saw his lead increase to around five strokes, Piercy went on to play the final 11 holes in seven over par which saw him soar to a score of 76. On the other hand, Finau went home with a consecutive series of birdies to card a four-under 67. This was his third PGA Tour victory and the largest final-round comeback.

After the game, Tony Finau, whose score of 17-under 267 total was three better than Sungjae Im and Emiliano Grillo, mentioned that he was still in shock about this win and it was still catching up to him. He spoke about how he had only been chasing Piercy the entire day. But he also stated that the main thing about Golf was to keep playing with the same consistency, for anything could happen at any given point- and that is what happened to Finau.
