Liz Cheney has stated that the January 6 Committee has evidence in its possession that points towards witness tampering. Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Mark Meadows, the former chief of staff, has also offered startling details of Trump’s activities and those of his aides during the day the Capitol was attacked. He offered incriminating details of the activities of Trump and his closest aides leading to January 6 and on that day itself.

Liz Cheney, the vice chairwoman of the House Select Committee that is looking into the January 6 attack on the Capitol closed the hearing on Tuesday and raised concerns about the evidence on the possibility of witness tampering.

Liz Cheney said that several witnesses had given descriptions of phone calls and other messages sent by other former colleagues. They have indicated that they received phone calls advising them to be team players and remain true to Trump.

The witness has also indicated that he was advised that the former president paid attention to the transcripts that concerned him and would be attentive to what was being said about him.

A last-minute hearing was scheduled for Hutchinson with analysts describing the testimony as having the potential to turn into a smoking gun.

Liz Cheney Indicated Evidence Witness Tampering

Liz Cheney, the Wyoming Congresswoman, and among the 2 Republicans on the January 6 panel, said that there was evidence that leaders in the inner circle of Donald Trump pressurized administration members to bear witness before the January 6 committee.

Liz Cheney stressed that while many witnesses, including Republicans, had testified in full honesty, the same could not be said of all witnesses. She spoke of one specific practice that raised concern for her.

Liz Cheney said that a common question asked of Trump’s colleagues was if they ever faced pressure to influence the testimony or impact it. Witness tampering is illegal and a criminal offense even if the attempt to influence is unsuccessful.
