Jill Stein Has Announced That She Will Go For The Green Party Nomination

JIll Stein

Jill Stein is again mounting another bid for the White House. The activist and doctor announced on Thursday that she will pursue the nomination of the Green Party for the 2024 presidential elections. This will be Jill Stein’s 3rd run for the top job after the failed 3rd-party White House bids in 2012 and in 2016. In a post, Jill Stein said that the political system had collapsed. She said that over 60% of the people believe that the 2-party establishment has failed, and the US needs a party that will truly represent the people and serve them.

Jill Stein added that she was joining the 2024 run for the presidential elections as she believes she offers a better choice for Americans. She is perceived as being left of the Democrats and President Biden. She joins a number of candidates from the third parties who have the Democrats worried. There is a strong possibility that Jill Stein and the Green Party could divert support from Biden’s presidential bid.

Democrats Worry That Jill Stein Could Pull Votes Away From Their Party

The Democrats and the Republicans appear certain to put up the two candidates, Biden and Trump, who were part of the 2020 presidential campaign. Stein announced her candidature even as she alleged that the Democrats had betrayed their promise that they would work for the common people. They have also backtracked on the environment.

About the Republicans, she said that they do not give any such assurances to begin with. Stein has accused both the Republicans and the Democrats of being a threat to democracy in America. LeBeau Kpadenou, who is a part of Jill Stein’s campaign has said that she intends to seek the nomination of the Green Party for the third time. Stein would profit from having institutional backing. This would give her respite from the many challenges she would face in gaining access to ballots.

Jill Stein won around 1.4 million votes in 2016 and drew the blame that she was responsible for Hillary Clinton losing in some states. The Democrats worry that third-party candidates like Jill Stein who are perceived as leaning more to the left could harm the party’s prospects.
