Ridley Scott Casts Vanessa Kirby As Josephine In ‘Kitbag’ With Joaquin Phoenix As Napoleon

Ridley Scott has finally made her decision on casting Vanessa Kirby who will be seen playing Josephine opposite Napoleon, played by Joaquin Phoenix in Kitbag. This much-awaited movie is going to be a historical drama that is being produced by Apple. The shooting is expected to go on floors this spring. 

Ridley Scott’s first choice was Jodie Comer who backed out from this massive project due to schedule conflicts. Later Scott replaced Comer with Kirby. The latter’s representatives are now in process of scheduling dates and negotiating a suitable deal. Kirby is presently enjoying her Oscar nomination for her wonderful performance in Pieces of a Woman

Casting Complete For Ridley Scott 

Kitbag is scripted by David Scarpa who worked with Ridley Scott in a previous movie. Kitbag will explore the origins and journey of Napoleon Bonaparte along with his addictive and volatile relationship with his Empress. 

The news of Scott directing this epic film was first shared with Deadline. Apple Studios has also committed to fund and produce this project that will star Phoenix. 

Kirby has also earned her very first nomination in the Oscar for playing her role of Martha who is a woman from Boston. Martha is seen struggling with the loss of her child. Kirby has already won the prestigious BAFTA award and received nominations in all major awards including Emmys, Critics Choice, SAG, and the Golden Globe. She is also well-known for portraying Princess Margaret in The Crown

Kirby also has several interesting projects up her sleeves that are worth waiting for. She will reprise the character of White Widow in Mission Impossible: Fallout as well as starring Jake Gyllenhaal in a thriller. 

All in all, Kitbag has completed casting and will go on floors soon.
