Iran’s men footballers made a strong message before the opening World Cup match against English national team on Monday had started.

Before start on Monday, when the national anthem of both the teams were played as per rules. However, in the Khalifa International Stadium, the Iranian footballers appeared to remain in silence as a sign of support for people protesting at home. England prevailed 6-2 to win the game.

The country has seen unrest, upheaval, and bloodshed in recent months, which has put the country’s more than 40-year-old regime in danger.

The sad demise of Mahsa Amini, a Iranian woman who perished after being held in custody by Iran’s moral police, supposedly for failing to adhere to the nation’s conservative uniform policy, ignited the protests, which experts describe as one of the most substantial since the founding of clerical rule after the 1979 Revolution in the country. Mahsa was arrested on suspicion breaking the country’s formal dress code. The security forces in Iran have reacted violently.

Iran Players Protested By Not Singing The National Anthem In The World Cup:

Iran’s coach Carlos Queiroz stated before the competition started that players will be permitted to demonstrate while competing in Qatar.

The supporters loudly responded to the solemn display of honor on Monday. Several of them cheering the whole time. It’s uncertain if it worked in the players’ favor.

After England’s convincing 6-2 victory, Queiroz held a post-game press conference but declined to discuss anything off the field.

Before start on Monday, when the national anthem of the country played all around the Khalifa International Stadium, in Qatar, the players appeared to remain in silence as a sign of support for people protesting at home.

Queiroz didn’t explicitly discuss the protest and frequently appeared irritated when questioned about topics unrelated to soccer.
